Cherry Bomb Presents... RVyAy!

This spring, Cherry Bomb presents the first RVyAy, which in addition to standing for our fair city also stands for Records, Vintage, Arts and Crafts. This will be a 2-day long market, with all of the vendor table fees, and donations collected at the door going to benefit Books on Wheels and Gallery 5. The dates for this are Friday, May 27 and Saturday, May 28.

But, we can't do this alone. We need vendors! Are you interesting in selling your fabulous records, crafts, or upcycled items? If so, please fill out a vendor application, there are available on the Gallery 5 website (on the left side of the page) at:

http://gallery5arts.org/Call%20for%20Artists.html

Email your completed application to cherrybombrvyay@gmail.com.

Mamy Rock

"Old people don't have to stay at home. If you want to do something, you really can."

Or at least so says Ruth Flowers, aka DJ Mamy Rock, a 69 year old British DJ who performs in clubs all over the world!

"It started really when my grandson had a birthday party ... they always have a little disco, don't they, after the party,"

"I went along quite late and the gentlemen at the door said, 'I don't think you want to go in there, Madame'. And I said, 'Well I rather think I do',"

"I went in and it was very noisy and the lights were flashing, but there was an awful lot of energy and joy."

Her grandson introduced her to a French producer who spent four years teaching her to spin and helping her to develop her own sound. What at first started as a joke evolved into a serious second career, complete with Flowers' own sense of style.
